Tips for Styling a Holiday Guest Room
While the fall and winter holiday season is filled with joyous celebrations, it can also be a very busy time, especially if you need to accommodate out-of-town guests. For the out-of-towners traveling from regions with inclement weather, the journey can be exhausting, and they will be more than happy to arrive to the warmth of the Florida Keys.
Styling a comfortable and inviting holiday guest room is important so that your company feels welcomed and that they know they have a private place to rejuvenate. At Royal Furniture and Design, we’d like to share a few of our favorite tips for creating a cozy and comfortable guest space for holiday guests.
Accessorize for the Holiday
Everyone likes some seasonal cheer, especially if they are away from their own home. Consider some bright and shining decor like some sparkling accent pillows or items the speak to the holiday you’re celebrating. Hang a few stockings stuffed with goodies by the dresser. Use pine boughs to usher in the scent of the season and scatter a few lighted candles for a traditional holiday glow. If your guests have children, think of Santa décor galore, or some synthetic felt snow for the dresser or a small pre-lit tree for the corner to bring a little winter chill to South Florida.
Keep your Guests Comfortable
Make your guest room a home-away-from-home by equipping your company with everything they might need. First and foremost, provide the wi-fi password and set up a television and a phone charging station in case they forget theirs. If little ones are staying with you, set up an art station with holiday crafts. Reading is a pastime that never goes out of style, so furnish the room with a lamp and a few books or magazines. Not everyone reads off their phone. Think about a mini fridge for beverages and snacks.
Keep Your Guests Cozy
Nothing is more relieving for your guests as they arrive at your home to see that they have a cozy and cheery room. Consider using seasonal bedding to amplify the merry mood. Fill a basket with fresh robes, slippers, and holiday pajamas so they know that casual is the theme. No need to dress for breakfast—just come as-is. Toss blankets at the edge of the bed and stack pillows against the headboard so your guests can watch their favorite holiday movies like Rudolph or It’s A Wonderful Life.
